Paul Spanos

Paul Spanos is a senior trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of the Solicitor, in Boston, Massachusetts. He advises DOL agencies regarding critical labor and employment law concerns, and prosecutes employers in lawsuits, protecting workers from safety and health hazards, minimum wage and overtime pay violations, and mismanagement or theft of retirement and welfare benefits. Mr. Spanos litigated high profile cases in Cleveland, Ohio Solicitor’s Office for 17 years before joining the Boston office in 2017. He has championed the DOL’s mission of protecting the labor rights of American workers by trying over 50 cases to winning verdicts and mentoring other rising colleagues, as a preeminent government litigator and lauded oral advocate.
Mr. Spanos was recently awarded the American Bar Association’s government fellowship for occupational safety and health law. Over the last 10 years, he has also served as an instructor with the National Institute for Trial Advocacy in Denver, Colorado, teaching other attorneys the art of trial practice. He earned his B.A. in History from Cleveland State University, and a juris doctorate from Case Western Reserve University School of Law. In his new role as a White House Leadership Fellow, he intends to bring his unique perspective and intellectual energy to improving America’s infrastructure.
Paul’s year-long rotation is at the Federal Permitting Improvement Steering Council (FPISC) and is assigned to the Modernize Infrastructure Permitting CAP Goa.
