Lelia Jackson

Department of Veterans Affairs

Lelia Jackson serves as the Director of the Center for Compassionate Care Innovation, where she leads VA’s efforts to explore emerging treatments and therapies to enhance Veterans’ well-being. The Center primarily focuses on cutting-edge therapies related to posttraumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury, chronic pain, suicidality, and other difficult to treat conditions.

Under Lelia’s keen leadership, a subset of the Veteran population now has access to cutting edge medical treatments previously only available outside of the VA. Lelia also serves as the Director of the Veterans Health Administration Office of Community Engagement. She is the national representative to nongovernmental organizations seeking to partner with VHA to expand healthcare services to Veterans, their families, caregivers and survivors. Since standing up this office in 2012, Lelia has established national strategic public private partnerships and interagency collaborations that have extended the breadth of services VA offers Veterans and their beneficiaries. Lelia is an accomplished, results-driven professional recognized for productive performance, commitment to excellence, and exceptional team management in critical collaborative contexts. Lelia is a Marine Corps Veteran with a strong commitment to service, and holds a Master’s degree in Technology Management and a bachelor’s degree in Criminology from the University of Maryland University College. Lelia also holds a Mid-Level Federal Acquisition Certification for Program and Project Managers (FAC-P/PM). Lelia is a graduate of the Federal Executive Institute for a Democratic Society; Partnership for Public Service Excellence in Government Fellows Program; and Leadership Veterans Affairs (LVA).
