Helena Fu is an environmental planner, energy policy analyst, and foreign affairs specialist with over 16 years of experience in leading and managing complex projects in the United States and overseas for the public and private sectors. She currently serves as Senior Advisor at the U.S. Department of Energy, where she leads development of policy to manage and promote international cooperation for the Office of Science, the single largest supporter of basic research in the physical sciences in the United States.
Prior to her current role, Helena served as the senior representative of the United States Department of Energy at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, China, where she was responsible for leading a team to advance U.S. security and economic interests in the areas of energy, science and technology, and nuclear security and nonproliferation.
Prior to joining government service, Helena served as Director of AECOM’s China Sustainability Center, where she built and led a team to deliver plans for sustainable urban design and development. Helena holds a Master’s degree in Environment and Natural Resource Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School and a Bachelor’s of Science in Urban Studies and Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
