Dominic Beamer is an empathetic leader and collaborator dedicated to elevating government initiatives and solving the complex problems they face. Recently, Mr. Beamer led the planning, implementation, and assessment of the 2020 Decennial Census NonResponse Followup Operation.
The $1.4 billion operation is the largest peace-time mobilization of a federal workforce to date, focusing on visiting households across the country to collect data that support apportionment. He successfully led the operation through significant change, including COVID-19, a historic hurricane season, and unprecedented wildfires. His leadership in that role earned him the Department of Commerce’s (DOC) Gold Medal Award, the highest honor granted by the DOC Secretary for distinguished and exceptional performance. He was promoted to his current role where he oversees planning for the 2030 Decennial Census Nonresponse Followup and In-Office Enumeration operations.
Prior to these roles, Mr. Beamer cultivated 13 years of expertise in survey lifecycle and project management in multiple roles in the U.S. Census Bureau and the Mine Safety and Health Administration. He managed surveys covering topics in education, library services, health, and safety. Mr. Beamer recognized his passion for communication in these roles and further expanded it during his time in the Decennial Communications Coordination Office and while developing an operational readiness approach for the 2020 Decennial Census.
Mr. Beamer has a bachelor’s degree in economics with a minor degree in fine arts from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, S.C., and a master’s degree in public policy from American University. He also earned a master’s certificate in program management from The George Washington University School of Business.
In his role as a White House Leadership and Development Program Fellow, he intends to bring his collaborative approach to foster a community that promotes unique innovation within the Office of Science and Technology Policy. In his free time, Mr. Beamer enjoys camping, writing poetry, and making ice cream.
