Christopher Landers

WHLDP Fellow

Mr. Landers has worked in the field of nuclear nonproliferation for over ten years, starting with short stints supporting the United Nations Department for Disarmament Affairs and the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization Preparatory Commission. He joined the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration’s Global Threat Reduction Initiative (GTRI) in 2005 through the Nonproliferation Graduate Fellowship Program. During Mr. Landers’ time with GTRI, he managed radiological and nuclear security projects in Russia and South Asia, and coordinated nuclear fuel removal efforts across the globe. Most recently, he supported the office of Material Management and Minimization as the Director for Reactor Conversion efforts worldwide. In this role, Mr. Landers was also able to serve as one of the technical negotiators in the recent Iranian Nuclear Deal. Prior to beginning his nonproliferation work, Mr. Landers also served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army’s Psychological Operations. Mr. Landers holds a Master’s Degree in International Policy and a Certification of WMD Nonproliferation from the Monterey Institute of International Studies, a Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies from Portland State University, and is a certified Department of Defense Korean Linguist from the Defense Language Institute in Monterey California. Additionally, Mr. Landers is the proud father of two children and a two time Ironman triathlon finisher.
