CAPT Cheryl A. Ford, DR.P.H.

2020 fellow

CAPT Cheryl A. Ford is a Health Services Officer in the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. She is an expert in health informatics, public health, and process improvement in managing large cross-cutting and complex initiatives. She currently serves as a Senior Technical Advisor at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research. Prior to her current role, CAPT Ford served as a Business Architect at the Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) then newly-established health domain governance office following the passage of the Affordable Care Act of 2010. As a member of HHS’s IT Project Management Office, she helped manage and identify commonalities among HHS’s vast Health IT investment portfolio, comprised of more than 700 investments.

CAPT Ford also served as the Deputy Director for Planning in HHS’s Administration for Children and Families, Office of Human Services and Response division where she coordinated the delivery of Federal human services activities across ten regional offices when local, tribal, and state response needs exceeded capabilities during federally declared disasters and public health emergencies. As a WHLDP fellow, CAPT Ford is assigned to the Security Clearance, Suitability, and Credentialing Reform CAP Goal and supports the Personnel Vetting Transformation Office (PVTO).

CAPT Ford holds a Doctor of Public Health degree in Health Advocacy and Leadership, as well as a Master of Health Administration degree and a Master of Information Systems degree. She is also a recipient of the Executive Leadership certificate from the U.S. Office of Personnel Management’s Leadership Education and Development Program.

As a WHLDP fellow, Cheryl is assigned to the Security Clearance, Suitability, and Credentialing Reform CAP Goal and supports the Personnel Vetting Transformation Office (PVTO).
