Mr. Bruce Hollywood is a member of the initial cohort of the White House Leadership Development Program.
Prior to this assignment, he served as Deputy Division Chief for the Joint Operational War Plans Division, Deputy Directorate for Joint Strategic Planning, Joint Staff J-5. On behalf of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, he worked to enable the formulation and maintenance of relevant and integrated campaign and contingency plans through the development and advancement of effective policies, processes, expertise, and technology. He worked closely with interagency partners across the United States government to represent Joint Staff equities in the interagency planning process and strengthen whole-of-government approaches to National Security challenges.
Bruce served in the United States Air Force for 21 years in a variety of Space and Missile operational, staff, and leadership positions. He entered the Air Force in 1986 as a Distinguished Graduate of Officer Training School. He began his career in missile operations and operational test. At Air Force Space Command, he was the Command Lead for the Space Based Infrared System, the Command’s #1 program. He served as Operations Officer for the 3rd Space Operations Squadron and was responsible for the operations of 18 Priority 1 satellites.
In his first Pentagon assignment, he served as Deputy Chief of the Space Launch Division, led several National-level Interagency working groups, and played a key role on the Air Force Resource Allocation Plan Reengineering Team. In 2001, (then) Lt Col Hollywood assumed command of the 320th Missile Squadron at FE Warren AFB. His 250 person squadron covered 3,400 square miles and had 55 individual nuclear certified facilities. He next moved to the Joint Staff where he served as Chief of Strategic Planning in the Deputy Directorate for Force Management. In that role, he was charged with developing future planning scenarios as part of the Department of Defense Analytic Agenda. Colonel Hollywood retired from active duty service in 2007 and joined the Joint Operational War Plans team.
