All good things must come to an end…until next year!
Thank you to all of the agencies, organizations, leaders, and individuals who celebrated #GovPossible and Public Service Recognition Week (PSRW) with us! We continue to be inspired by the great work public servants are doing in government for the public.
Curious how we celebrated public servants? Originally shared on Twitter and LinkedIn, we’ve highlighted a few ways that the Performance.gov team and many others shared their appreciation for the public servants in their lives!
Agency leadership shared short, personalized videos of thanks! Leaders from all levels expressed their thanks for the hard work that public servants do each day for others, including Office of Personnel Management Director Kiran Ahuja (see below). Director Ahuja thanked public servants for making work #GovPossible for the American people.
Others like National Aeronautics and Space Administration Deputy Director Pamela Melroy, Office of Management and Budget Director Shalanda Young, Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, and Americorps CEO Michael Smith also shared their gratitude.
The White House published a proclamation to commemorate PSRW. President Biden shared a proclamation honoring Public Service Recognition Week and the “…dedicated Federal, State, Tribal, and local public servants who embody the spirit of service and endless possibilities that define America.”
Federal agency accounts from across the government joined in the celebration on social media. The Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (see below) spotlighted Bill Dancing Feather’s commitment and work. Bill has provided knowledge and resources via free online courses to help agencies better understand Native American issues related to historic preservation.
State and local government partners also joined in the fun. For example, the City of Issaquah highlighted their public servants and their commitment to excellence in a video.
The Performance.gov team created our own content to thank public servants and elevate their work! We featured over 45 incredible and diverse public servants, including Senior Scientist Dr. Greg Dusek from NOAA’s National Ocean Services (see below). Greg is working to communicate his team’s coastal hazards research to keep the public safe.

Performance.gov wrote a blog post to highlight some of the great work happening in government. For this campaign, we told the story of California’s incredible Office of Digital Innovation team and their work with the California Public Utilities Commission to learn from Californians applying for the Emergency Broadband Benefit program. This team not only helped Californians more easily gain access to affordable internet but also provided recommendations to make the process smoother for future applicants on a national scale.
We also asked public servants to reveal their #GovPossible public service superpower in a video. From connecting the dots to empathy, hear from public servants themselves about the great skills and talents they bring to their work!
Lastly, we shared a fun closing video that answered the creativity call. Performance.gov’s own Lauren Stocker, Associate Director of GSA’s Office of Shared Solutions and Performance Improvement, made a star-studded fun video to close out the #GovPossible campaign and thank all who make every day #GovPossible.
