Annie Leonetti

Annie Leonetti has served as the Deputy Administrator for the U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) Employment and Training Administration (ETA), San Francisco Regional Office since October 2019. There, she partners with federal, state, and local organizations to support the public workforce system.

As a White House Leadership Development Program Fellow, Ms. Leonetti will work in the Workforce Branch of the Office of Performance and Personnel Management, which is part of the Office of Management and Budget. She is excited for the practical experiences outside her technical expertise that will challenge her to grow while she contributes her energy, enthusiasm, passion, and commitment to serving the American people.

Ms. Leonetti has over 15 years of leadership experience, including serving as the Acting Regional Administrator for ETA’s San Francisco and Dallas Regional Offices for over a year during the COVID-19 pandemic. In that job, she assisted 25 states and territories implement pandemic unemployment insurance programs under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, a $3 billion federal investment. Before joining DOL, Ms. Leonetti spent over 10 years providing direct services through local nonprofit organizations and the District of Columbia government.

Ms. Leonetti’s core values include accountability, integrity, equity, community, and justice. Her guiding principle as a leader focuses on service to others. When faced with leadership challenges, she utilizes a collaborative approach to brainstorm solutions and inspire positive change.

Ms. Leonetti has seen first-hand how government services and programs can have positive impacts on individuals, families, and communities, particularly those in marginalized populations and individuals involved in the justice system. She hopes to always provide meaningful contributions to our most vulnerable communities.

Ms. Leonetti has been to over 30 countries and all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and three U.S. territories. She is a pet lover and drives a 1978 Volkswagen Super Beetle convertible; she resides in Washington, D.C., with her husband, cat, dog, and car and maintains close ties to her “true home” in Portland, Oregon.
